First ever nonstop flight from Australia to London departed from Perth Airport

Qantas’s first ever nonstop scheduled flight from Perth to London departed today at 19:00 LT. The Qantas Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, flight QF9 with Captain Lisa Norman, Captain Jeff Foote, First Officer Dave Summergreene and Second Officer Troy Lane has left Perth and on its way to London Heathrow on a 17hr 20min flight. The flight QF9 is estimated to land at Heathrow Airport at 03:06 LT.

The Captain Lisa Norman has been with Qantas for 29-years and being check and training captain on Boeing 767s, captain on Boeing 747s and A330s and now manager Boeing 787-9 Introduction Flight Operations.

Some of 236 passengers aboard the flight QF9 had the opportunity of experiencing the Qantas’s new international lounge opened today at Perth airport, having a range of unique features including ‘light therapy’ in one of the 15 shower suites, a wellbeing studio with stretching classes and a refresh area providing hydrating face products. Customers also can dine in an open-air terrace with a BBQ serving gourmet dishes by Neil Perry.
