Algerian Air Force plane crashes killing more than 250 onboard

More than 250 people have died in a deadly plane crash in Algeria. The An Il-76 transport plane, operated by the Algerian Air Force, crashed shortly after take-off from Boufarik Airforce Base in northen Algeria killing over 257 people onboard.

The aircraft went down in a field and burst into flames, killing over 257 people onboard , and some survivors have been pulled out from the burning wreckage.

The commander, Captain Admiral Dusan Ismail, with 30 years experience, along with 10 crew member died on the crash.

Twenty-six members of Polisario Front, supported by Algeria and seeking independence from Morocco for Western Sahara, are said to be among the dead.

More than 300 emergency and rescue workers are at the scene.
