Two Iranian Airlines signed a $2 billion deal to buy 40 Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jets

Iranian Aseman and Airtour Airlines signed a $2 billion deal with Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC), to buy 40 Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jets.

The agreement to buy special “R” version was signed at the Eurasia Airshow in Turkey. The two airlines – Iran Aseman and Iran Airtour reportedly ordered 20 aircraft each.

Iran may grow into one of the largest markets for the Russian regional jets, as limited U.S sanctions restrict Iranian Airlines to find U.S-made aircraft components.

The aircraft are scheduled to be delivered from 2020 once the order is firmed within one year.

Outside Russia, Mexico’s Interjet operates 22 Russian-made jets and intends to add 8 more to its fleet., and also Irish CityJet has received 6 jets out of 15 aircraft on order.
