Brussels Airlines Pilots strike will disrupt travel plans of 60,000 passengers booked on 557 flights

Brussels Airlines confirmed that the pilots will strike on May 14 and 16, which will disrupt travel plans of 60,000 passengers booked on their 557 flights in and out of Brussels on the two days.

The unions of pilots representing Lufthansa subsidy Brussels Airlines have formally notified the airline its intention to strike last week over the over pay and working conditions. Around 80% of the pilots voted in favour of strike, seeking pay hike, improved working environment to balance between work and life, career prospects and early retirement options.

According to Brussels Airlines, the company has been in talks with unions to settle the issues to avoid a strike, but it seems no agreement has been reached till today.

Lufthansa took control of the Belgian national flag carrier in 2016 with the view of expanding its long-haul operations for its ‘Eurowings’ budget brand out of Duesseldorf.
