Qantas Boeing 787-9 sets a new speed record on Perth-London flight


Qantas has broken its own speed record for Perth to London non-stop flight on Boeing 787-9 on 29 May 2018.

The new record outbound flight QF9 to London took only 16 hours 29 minutes instead of the scheduled 17 hours 20 minutes, slashing almost an hour off.

The Qantas flight QF9 with an average speed of 902km/h touched down at 4.36am on 29 May. The typical cruise speed for a 787-9 is between 860 to 900km/h.

Last month an inbound flight, QF10 from London to Perth set a record flight time of 15 hours and 45 minutes, stripping an hour off the standard flight time, in which it flew at 938km/h (ground speed of 1114km/h.)
