Cathay Pacific takes delivery of its first A350-1000

Cathay Pacific has officially taken delivery of its first A350-1000 today at Airbus delivery centre in Toulouse, France.

The new aircraft is the 316T MTOW version of Airbus A350-1000 (up from 308T) and will provide and additional 450nm of range to 8,400nm or 5.5t extra of cargo.

Qatar Airways took delivery of the first A350-1000 and the 2nd is delivered to Cathay today. Airbus says no A350-1000 deliveries to new customers until 2019.

The Cathay Pacific’s new A350-1000, partly powered by bio-fuel will fly from France to Hong Kong this Wednesday. The A350-1000 can hold a maximum of 156,000 litres of fuel.

The aircraft is powered by Rolls Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, will fly non-stop from Hong kong airport to Washington DC Dulles Airport from September 2018., and from 1st December 2018 on the daily route between Amsterdam and Hong kong.

Cathay Pacific currently has another 20 A350-1000 on order for delivery across the next 4 years 7
