Malaysia Airlines has opened tender for 20-30 wide-body jets

April 10, 2018

Malaysia Airlines has opened a fresh tender for 20-30 widebody jets, that could supersede the last year’s non-binding agreement with Boeing. The Malaysia Airline signed a non-binding initial agreement with Boeing to purchase eight 787 jets valued at $2.25 billion at list prices when the country’s Prime Minister Najib, visit United States last year.

In a fresh tender, the airline is seeking information on Boeing 787, Airbus A330neo and A350 wide-body jets. The airline currently operate 17 A330s and 4 A350s, and surprised the industry when it ordered Boeing 787s, while it had an all Airbus wide-body fleet.

The tender may supersede the Boeing order as it was a non-binding initial agreement with Boeing to buy eight long-range 787 jets.

According to Malaysia Airlines spokeswoman, the airline constantly engage with plane makers to review scenarios and options with respect to its network and fleet.
