Aeroflot Sukhoi Superjet 100-95B engulfed in flames on landing at Sheremetyevo Airport, Russia, killing at least 41 people.

The flight #SU1492 from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Murmansk (Russia) with 73 passengers and 5 crew declared emergency shortly after takeoff and returned to Sherementyevo for a landing at 18:31LT.

The crew reported a loss of radio communication following a lightning strike, and then declared emergency.

The aircraft bounced on initial touchdown followed by another hard ground contact, during which the undercarriage collapsed and the aircraft burst into flames, veered left and came to a stop on the grass.

Passengers were evacuated via slides, many seen with their carry on luggage. Flight crew escaped via the escape ropes through the cockpit windows.

At least 41 people reported dead, including 2 children and a flight attendant.

The tail section of the aircraft was completely burned down, before the fire put out in 45 minutes.

The Aircraft Reg.MS95135 was manufactured in 2017, and was under scheduled maintenance in April 2019
